The Dancing Bug

About Me

I started swing dancing at the beginning of 2004. Since childhood, I have always loved jazz music and old movies (especially the ones with dancing in them), but had never considered doing any dancing myself until that fateful day when, on a whim, I first stepped into a beginner lesson. I caught the bug immediately and it very literally changed my life. Now I dance in Portland, Oregon several nights a week – I drive an hour each way to do it – and also in Seattle as often as I can. I love to travel to dance events in far-off places too. When I’m not dancing, I’m blathering on about dancing.

So I decided to combine my two great fixations in life – swing dancing, and blathering on about swing dancing – into a blog. If you’re a dance nerd like me, or if you are just starting to get the dancing bug, then I hope you will find something here of use or interest. I welcome your comments!

I’m so looking forward to reading more of your posts. I’m a newbie swing dancer (been dancing obsessively since September). I can’t imagine life without it.

Welcome, Beth! I’m with you, sister – and I can’t imagine dancing any way other than obsessively!

I’m stoked you’re doing this blog :)

Thanks, Larry! That makes me happy :)
